Met my sister at the gym today and we worked through the weight training exercises I’d gotten the other day.  My arms sure are sore!  I really have a tough time with the bicep curl machine.  I don’t know if it’s just an awkward motion or if it just takes more time to build up this muscle. The leg extensions are tricky too; I much prefer the squat type machines but I am sure they work different muscles so I will try to give them a chance.

I have another personal training session set up for Monday and Chris meets with Dustin on Tuesday so I am sure I will have new tricks for my next post!


So I got another workout in my file; it was for some weight training.  I wasn’t really sure where to begin with the weights for each machine so I did my best and picked weights that just seemed hard; almost too hard for some of them.  There were 5 different machines to work on doing first 20 reps, then 15 reps, then 10 reps; I paused between each set and then moved on to the next set, finishing all three sets before changing machines.

  • arm press
  • bicep curls
  • leg press
  • triceps pull down
  • bicep pull downs

Again, I probably lack the wrong names for everything but I slowly worked my way through the weight machines today working to do the three sets on each machine.  I used 60 pounds on most of the arm work except for the bicep curl machine.  I couldn’t lift nearly as much from that position.  It was extremely hard to do.  I don’t know if I was not in the right position or if it just really is a difficult muscle to work.  The leg press gave me difficulties as well; I feel that one in my upper thighs right now.  I was surprised how little I could lift there too.  Seems like a good workout; I started with about 10 minutes of cardio ~ a 6 1/2 minute expresso bike challenge, some jumping jacks, and crunches; and finished with a 4+ minute bike ride and some treadmill time for a cool down; followed of course by stretches.
